Sensex opens in green, gives up early gains

Mumbai : A key index of the Indian equities markets started the week in the green Monday, but then dipped to trade just below its previous close, about 15 minutes into trade.

The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, opened at 15,153.21 points, above Friday’s close of 15,103.55. Within 15 minutes, however, it slipped into red to 15,102.68 points, 0.87 points or 0.01 lower than the last close.

At the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) stood at 4,587.7 points, 0.02 percent above its last close.

Broader market indices opened trade on an even better note, with the BSE midcap index rising 0.56 percent from its previous close, while the BSE smallcap index was up 0.13 percent.
