Jewellery, cash looted from businessman’s Noida house

Noida: Three men Thursday robbed a businessman’s house here of cash and jewellery worth Rs.1.25 lakh after overpowering the domestic help, police said.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in Balbir Singh Sethi’s Sector 48 residence, police added.

The incident came to light when Sethi, who was not at home at the time, sent a three-wheeler to his house to pick up and deliver his daughter’s clothes to her Ramesh Nagar residence in Delhi, police said.

When the three-wheeler driver reached Sethi’s house, he found the door ajar and called his boss, who in turn got in touch with Sethi. When Sethi reached his house, he found his domestic help Arun with his hands and legs tied. He also found jewellery, cash and other valuables missing from his house, police said.

“Arun said that at around 12.30 p.m. three men asked him to open the gate as they had to record the meter reading. When he opened the gate they overpowered tied him and robbed the house,” Sethi said.

Iqbalul Zaman Khan, inspector-in-charge of Sector-49 police station said: “We have registered a complaint. A sniffer dog has been pressed into service and the victim’s statement is being recorded. Sethi has prepared an inventory stating that about 70 to 80 gram gold jewellery worth about Rs.1 lakh along with Rs.25,000 cash was robbed.”
