Missing executive’s body found in a Noida drain

Noida: The body of a marketing professional with a leading media group was found floating in a drain here Friday. He was reportedly missing from his home for the past two days, police said.

Ashok Kumar Jha, a senior marketing executive with Dainik Jagran, was found dead in a drain at Sector-63 along the national highway-24 by passerby at around 11 a.m.

Kumar’s body had some injury marks, police officials said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said, “Kumar could have died in a road accident and then fallen into the canal. We are investigating the case.”

The family of the victim however allege that he was murdered. Kumar was engaged to get married soon.

“Initially, we thought that he was engrossed in some office work but he did not return for two days. We got worried and started a search. When we enquired about him at his office, but they had no idea. We were looking for him at his friends and acquaintances’ places and were about to lodge a missing person complaint with the police,” the victim’s brother Satyendra said.

“He had no rivalry with anyone and was a very cool-headed person. He was very dedicated and sincere towards his work. We suspect that he was murdered and thrown into the canal,” Satyendra said.

The family said that Kumar’s mobile phone is missing and that it has been switched off for the past two days.
