BJP should not depend too much on JD-U: Prasad

By IANS,

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad Saturday warned the party that excessive dependence on its ally in Bihar, Janata Dal-United (JD-U), could affect its fortunes.

At the party’s two-day national execitue meeting that started here Saturday, Prasad voiced his concern during discussions over the party performance in various states.

When the discussions turned to Bihar, Prasad raised his concern that too much dependence on its alliance partner in Bihar, Janata Dal-United (JD-U), may lead them to problems similar to what it faced in Orissa after their alliance partner Biju Janata Dal (BJD) left them just before the Lok Sabha elections, said BJP sources.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi of the BJP and the state unit of the party have been repeatedly accused of playing into the hands of JD-U, the sources added.

The BJP suffered heavily in Orissa during the Lok Sabha and assembly elections after BJD parted ways with it.
