New Delhi : Terming the incident “shameful”, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday directed the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) to probe the allegations of rape levelled by a woman against five policemen.
“If such an incident has happened, then it is very, very shameful. I have asked the DCW to look into the matter,” Dikshit told reporters.
The woman, a resident of slum clusters in southwest Delhi, alleged that a senior officer of the Inderpuri police station and four other policemen raped her in the police station premises Monday.
Reny Jacob, member of DCW, visited the Inderpuri police station. She said: “We are looking into the matter and if required, we will conduct a medical examination of the woman. The DCW will extend all possible support to her.”
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also sought a report from Delhi Police on the matter.
“It is very unfortunate and we have sought a report from Delhi Police. The final medical report is yet to come and we will take necessary action after we get the police report,” NCW chairperson Girija Vyas said.
