Six Indians detained in Bangladesh

By IANS,

Agartala : Bangladeshi police have detained six Indians, including two women, after they accidentally crossed the border along southern Tripura while grazing their cattle, an official said here Wednesday.

A group of Bangladeshi civilians detained the six Indians late Tuesday when their cattle went across the border along Tripura’s southern border town Sabroom, 135 km south of state capital Agartala.

“The detained Indians were handed over to the Bangladeshi police. BSF officials have held a flag meeting Wednesday with their Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) counterparts for the release of the Indians,” a spokesman of the Border Security Force (BSF) told IANS.

Tripura shares an 856-km international border with Bangladesh, part of which is porous, riverine and unfenced and prone to frequent infiltration and occasional skirmishes.
