Kerala Govt to change rule in appointment of Arabic Special Officer

By Najiya O., TwoCircles.net,

The Kerala Government plans to amend the special rule regarding the appointment of Special Officer of Arabic. The clause which makes 10-year service compulsory for appointment as Special Officer in Arabic (SOA) will be changed, said Mr. MA Baby, State Minister of Education. He added that a senior official will be appointed to the post till the amendment comes into effect.

The Minister was answering to the submission asked by Mr. UC Raman, MLA of the Muslim League, in the Assembly. The post has been lying vacant since two years. This has created trouble for many programmes related to the education of Muslim students, said Mr. Raman.

The SOA is in charge of supervision of all activities in the department of education related to Arabic and Urdu languages.

Only those who have completed a service of 10 years as Inspector of Muslim Education (IME) can become Special Officer of Arabic, as of now. But generally, IMEs are appointed when they have only 2 or 3 years of service left. Senior Arabic teachers of Higher Secondary are appointed as IMEs. So it is practically improbable that IMEs get 10 year service.
