Chennai : The city-based two- and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor closed 2008-09 with a 13 percent growth in turnover and a marginal decline in net profits as compared to the previous fiscal.
In a statement Friday, the company stated the total revenue and net profit for the last fiscal stood at Rs.3,741 crore and Rs.31 crore as against Rs.3,310 crore and Rs.31.77 crore earned in 2007-08 respectively.
During the period under review, the company logged a 5 percent growth in its two-wheeler sales, selling 13.42 lakh units against 12.77 lakh units in the previous fiscal.
Motorcycles accounted for 6.45 lakh units against 6.10 lakh units in 2007-2008, posting a growth of 6 percent. Scooters registered sales of 2.59 lakh units against 2.58 lakh units the year before.
Mopeds and three-wheelers account for the rest of sales. TVS however did divulge the sales break-up.
The company exported 1.95 lakh units in 2008-09 against 1.36 lakh units the previous year.
It said a new scooter and motorcycle will be launched this fiscal, apart from a four-stroke three-wheeler model in petrol, LPG and CNG versions.
