Cancun (Mexico) : Four people, including two policemen, were arrested after a police patrol car was stolen in the Mexican city of Cancun, EFE reported Monday.
Two police officers on patrol in the resort city Saturday morning noticed three people having a heated argument inside a car.
While the officers were investigating, one of three men jumped into the police vehicle, threatened the officers with what appeared to be a weapon and drove off.
The car thief got away, but the officers arrested the other two men, identified as Karl Heinz Thies, a 22-year-old Cancun resident, and Jorge Miranda Bendezu, a 27-year-old Peruvian citizen.
The patrol car was found several hours later near where it had been stolen, but the thief took the keys and a radio microphone.
The two officers were arrested and handed over to the police department’s internal affairs division, which is investigating them for negligence, officials said.
