Sydney : Australia cricket captain Ricky Ponting has expressed his team’s condolences to those affected by the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore.
“An act of violence like this is a terrible thing and when it involves those who are part of our cricketing family, players the world over are affected,” he said in a statement from South Africa.
“The wider cricketing community has been shocked … and our thoughts and full support is with those involved.
“We have spoken with members of the Sri Lankan team this morning and made them aware we are extremely saddened by what has happened and that our best wishes are with them all.”
Former Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson, who had had previously maintained visiting cricketers would never be in danger in the country, said the attack was a massive blow.
“The prospects were not great for Pakistan cricket before this, they’re absolutely horrendous now,” he said.
