“I am waiting for the Congress’ reply as they asked for 48 hours’ time. But five days have gone so far and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has already begun their poll campaign across the state,” Banerjee told a press conference here.

She said the Trinamool Congress was prepared with their candidates list.

“As soon as we receive a response from the Congress, we’ll release our list. But we are now maintaining political courtesy,” she said.

Earlier, Banerjee said there was an initial discussion with the Congress that Trinamool would be contesting in 28 seats, leaving the remaining 14 seats for the Congress, but nothing was finalised then.

After a closed door meeting at a south Kolkata guest house March 1, Trinamool Congress and the Congress decided to fight the Lok Sabha elections together in the state.

West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats and will go to the polls April 30, and May 7 and 13.
