Andhra civil groups equate Cong govt. in AP with BJP’s in Gujarat

New Delhi: While demanding sacking of the BJP government of Gujarat as it failed to bring justice even after seven years to the victims of Gujarat pogrom 2002 and left thousands of Muslims homeless, several civil liberty groups in Andhra Pradesh have found a lot of similarities in the state Congress government and that of BJP in Gujarat.

Seven years after the Gujarat pogrom 2002, a pogrom is still on there in a silent manner as Muslims are being denied victims, perpetrators are free and enjoying power, victims are homeless and innocents are in jails, say the groups. Gujarat-like crimes have been carried out against Muslims in Andhra Pradesh also in the last five years, they say.

“It is a matter of great concern for the civil society that the experiment of Gujarat has spread all over the country. This experiment reached from Ahmedabad’s Gandhi Nagar to the Hyderabad’s Gandhi Bhavan. The congress and the BJP have same ideology with different names. Because of which inter-state agreements are taking place with ease. There is a clear illegal nexus between Gujarat and Hyderabad police,” the groups say in a statement.

“In our own state of AP there are innumerable examples such as arrest of Moulana Naseeruddin in Hyderabad and shifting him to Gujarat, refusing arrest of ACP Gujarat Narendra Kumar Amin, killer of Mujahid Saleem, by the AP state Congress Government, preparation of conspiracy of the killing of Sohrabuddin and police in turn registering cases against those who raised voice against the atrocities.”

They further say: “blast in Macca Masjid and subsequent police firing on innocent Muslims, blasts at Gokul chat and Lumbini Park and illegal arrest, detention and torture of innumerable Muslim youths in the name of investigation, then spoiling their lives by implicating them in false cases, arrest of Muslim youths from Hyderabad and putting them behind bars in BJP ruled states. All these atrocities bring the fact before us that Moditva has entered Reddy government and the slogan Reddy-Modi Bhai Bhai has proved to be a fact.”

The signatories to the statement include Lateef Muhammad Khan, president, CLMC, S Q Masood, NAPM, Giri Yadav, Praja Party, Sister Tara, general secretary, NISA, Advocate Mandakini of NISA and Radha of Chetainiya Mahila Samakihiya.
