New Delhi: Bihar leads states where police-politician-criminal nexus is a reality; hence one hardly sees the state police bringing hardcore criminals to justice. No wonder, instead of wanted criminals, the police arrested a toddler and produced him in the court in a criminal case.
Two-years-old Muhammad Sahil was named an accused in a case of loot and assault in a village under Pusa police station in Samastipur district. He was named accused along with three other persons: Muhammad Shoaib (71), Muhammad Shakeel (26) and Muhammad Mohiuddin (22). While two got anticipatory bail and Shakeel sent to jail, Sahil was arrested and produced in the court of acting chief judicial magistrate on Saturday.
The court was aghast at the arrest of the toddler, and immediately granted him bail. The district police chief has ordered an inquiry as to how the complaint was lodged against the boy.
All four accused are family members and were named accused by a shopkeeper in their village of setting his shop on fire and looting Rs 5000 from him.
