London : A high-powered Indian delegation led by Planning Commision Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia began meeting here with officials and central bankers from Group of 20 (G-20) countries in a major exercise to address the global financial crisis.
The Indian delegation that also includes Reserve Bank of India Governor D. Subbarao and Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla held a meeting Friday with delegations from Brazil, Russia and China, which together with India form the BRIC group.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to go to London on a four-day visit starting April 1 to attend the G-20 summit. On the sidelines of the summit, he is expected to meet newly-installed US President Barack Obama and other world leaders.
The G-20 meeting is expected to forge a collective strategy to deal with the global economic meltdown.
The summit, in the words of host British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, must signal “decisive action” to combat the global financial crisis.
