New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday released its list of candidates for seven of Assam’s 14 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Under its alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the BJP is contesting eight seats, including Guwahati, leaving six for its partner.
“BJP president Rajnath Singh finalised the list of candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections 2009 for the state of Assam,” an official statement said.
Senior leader and former union minister Bijoya Chakraborty will be contesting from Guwahati.
Assam goes to the polls in two phases on April 16 and 23.
The elections for the 15th Lok Sabha will be held from April 16 to May 13 in five phases. Counting will take place on May 16.
