Kabul : A foreign soldier was killed in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said Tuesday, raising the number of NATO troops killed in the past three days to 10.
The soldier died of wounds Monday, the ISAF said in a statement. It did not reveal the nationality of the soldier or the region where the incident occurred.
The attack happened the same day as nine Afghan police officers and two civilians were killed and 30 were wounded in the southern province of Helmand.
Since Saturday, four US, three British and a French soldier have been killed in militant attacks. A German soldier died in a traffic accident.
More than 70,000 international soldiers are stationed in the country, and 17,000 more US soldiers were expected to arrive by the middle of this year.
