Samajwadi Party’s doors open for Shatrughan Sinha: Amar Singh

By IANS,

New Delhi : Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh Tuesday said his party’s doors were always open for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha if he does not consider the party “untouchable”.

Sinha Tuesday called on Singh at his residence here.

“If the Samajwadi Party is not untouchable for him (Sinha), then I would like to say – ‘koi jab tumahra hriday tod de, tadpata hua jab tumhe chhod de, tab tum hamare paas aana, priye'(when somebody breaks your heart and leaves you in despair, then you come to me),” Amar Singh told reporters here. He was singing a love song from 1970 “Purab Aur Pacchim” Bollywood movie.

Sinha, an actor-turned politician, expressed confidence that he would get a BJP ticket from Patna Sahib for the Lok Sabha election.

“I do not consider any party as untouchable. I have friends in all political parties. Amar Singhji is a good friend. There is no talk of switching loyalties…as I am in the BJP, where does the question of my joining any other party arise,” Sinha said.

“I am sure of getting the ticket. When the Bihar list is announced, I am sure my name will also figure in it… You look at my face, my body language. I am relaxed.”

Sinha joined the BJP in mid-1980s at the peak of his career in the film industry. During the tenure of the National Democratic Alliance government at the centre, he held two ministries – health and shipping from 1999-2004.
