Court rejects Delhi blast accused’s plea for CDs

By IANS,

New Delhi : A city court Monday rejected a plea of a suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist, accused in last year’s serial bombings in the capital, who had sought a CD of the electronic evidence gathered against him.

Metropolitan Magistrate Manish Yaduvanshi disallowed the plea of Zia-ur-Rehman, who had sought copy of the CDs containing images and other details retrieved from mobile phones and a laptop allegedly seized in connection with the Sep 13 bomb attacks that ripped the capital.

The images were retrieved allegedly from the mobile phone of the prime accused in the blasts, Atif Ameen, who was killed in the Jamia Nagar shootout Sep 19.

The court however said the CD will be shown to the accused before framing of the charges against them in the cases registered in connection with the bombings that killed at least 26 people.

The court also extended till April 6 the judicial custody of five suspects including Rehman, Zeeshan Ahmed, Saquib Nissar, Mohammed Shakeel and Mohammed Hakim.

Another accused Mohammed Saif was March 19 handed over to the Gujarat police for his alleged role in the July 26 serial blasts in Ahmedabad.

The court asked the police to bring before it on April 6 three other suspects – Mohammed Saif, Mohammed Sadiq Sheikh and Quamuddin Kapadia, who are also in Ahmedabad.
