Lucknow: A young couple was caught and their throats slit in an Uttar Pradesh village, because they were trying to elope. The 18-year-old girl’s father and two brothers have been caught and confessed to the crime, police said Wednesday.
“Bhole, 55, along with two of his sons in Rampur district, caught his 18-year-old daughter while she was trying to elope with a youth and killed them,” police inspector Naresh Tyagi told IANS over phone.
The incident took place Monday night in Chikati village in Rampur, some 250 km from here. The girl’s father and brothers were arrested Tuesday night, Tyagi said.
“The three have confessed that they killed the girl to safeguard the honour of the family,” said Tyagi.
Police said Bhole’s daughter was having an affair with a youth of the same village for the past one year.
