Napier : India were 79 for the loss of three wickets at stumps on the second day of the second cricket Test here Friday, in reply to New Zealand’s first innings total of 619/9 declared.
India trail by 540 runs with seven wickets in hand.
Rahul Dravid (21) and Sachin Tendulkar (0) were at the crease after India lost openers Virender Sehwag (34), Gautam Gambhir (16) and nightwatchman Ishant Sharma (0).
New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori took two wickets for 16 runs.
