New Delhi : A 50-year-old maid was found dead at her employer’s south Delhi house Sunday. While the maid’s family alleged her56 employer’s role in her death, the police have detained another domestic help in the suspected murder.
The body of Rambeti was found in a vacant room on the third floor of her employer Devendra Kumar Jain’s residence in Green Park, a police official said.
The post-mortem examination report was being awaited to know whether it was a natural or unnatural death, and a case of murder or suicide. However, the victim’s family has alleged that the employers are behind her murder.
According to the police, Rambeti, a resident of Chattarpur, was hired by her employer only three days ago.
“The victim’s son, Jagdish, used to drop and pick her up everyday but when he came to pick her up Saturday evening he was told that his mother has left. He returned hoping that she will reach back home but she didn’t. He then filed a complaint in this regard,” the official added.
“When Jagdish returned to the Green Park house Sunday morning, the employers reportedly asked him to look in the servant’s room. It was then that he found his mother dead,” the official further said.
He informed the police. Jagdish alleged that his mother’ employers were responsible for her death.
The employer, D.K. Jain, runs a paper business in Chawri Bazar area of central Delhi.
Meanwhile, police sources said they are suspecting another domestic help Chetan, 20, could be involved in the murder.
“He is being questioned by the police. The police are also looking for another domestic help who is missing since the incident,” said a police official. Chetan is a native of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh.
The victim’s relatives gathered outside Jain’s house and staged angry protests, demanding action against the family. The angry mob even pelted stones at the house.
