New Delhi : Delhi Police have busted a gang of robbers, active in the west and southwest areas of the capital, and have arrested three gang members, including a state-level wrestler, a police official said Sunday.

The police arrested Maninder Singh, a wrestler from Punjab, and his accomplices Veer Bahadur and Keshav Kumar for robbery and the Arms Act violations Saturday from Hari Nagar area in West Delhi.

“We have recovered five mobile phones of various models and one motorcycle from their possession,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said.

Singh, 22, and his accomplices were “habitual drinkers” and got into crime to make quick money. They were involved in knife-point robberies in the area of Mayapuri, Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Naraina and Delhi Cantonment.

“They have been continuously committing robberies and were also involved in an attempt to murder in which they had brutally stabbed a person with a knife while committing robbery. While Kumar and Bahadur have a criminal background, Singh is a state level wrestler,” Aggarwal said.
