Jammu: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the Congress led UPA government at Centre and previous led coalition governments in state have ‘ditched’ the inhabitants of Ladakh region.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarter, here today, state president BJP Ashok Khajuria welcomed the decision of Ladakh Union Territory Front (LUTF) for extending its support to National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in coming Lok Sabha election.
Khajuria said that BJP has always maintained that neither centre nor state governments remained serious about Jammu and Ladakh and always ignored the inhabitants of the two regions and only concentrated on the development of Kashmir valley.
Substantiating his accusations, Khajuria said, “Be it share of jobs in Civil Secretariat, admissions in professional colleges, allocation of funds etc, the UPA government at the centre and successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir did not bother to ensure equal treatment towards Jammu and Ladakh”.
Khajuria said that the decision of Ladakh Union Territory Front to snap its ties from UPA and supporting NDA to form a new government at the centre was the result of anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh policies being pursued by UPA government.
Maintaining that six year of BJP led NDA government at the centre was the golden period for Jammu and Kashmir, Khajuria said that during NDA rule at the centre, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were treated equally in all matters and at all levels.
As far as Ladakh region was concerned, Khajuria said it received special attention and economic boost in terms of sanctioning of central schemes like power projects, national highway, boosting domestic tourism and various other developmental projects during NDA rule.
Terming UPA as sinking ship, the state president said “UPA stands nowhere as its constituents have been parting ways and UPA now is confined to dynastic Gandhi family only”
Expressing confidence of returning BJP led NDA at the centre and LK Advani as next Prime Minister of India, Khajuria assured that there would be no discrimination and all the three regions of the state Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh would be treated equally. (NAK)
