No question of aligning with Congress or Left: Nitish Kumar

By IANS,

Patna : Putting an end to speculation about aligning with the Congress or the Left parties after the polls, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he and his Janata Dal-United (JD-U) were part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and would remain with the alliance.

“We are already in the NDA and will remain with it after the polls,” Nitish Kumar told newspersons Monday when asked about reports of his likely move to align with either the Congress or the Left parties after the Lok Sabha elections.

Nitish Kumar also said that he was working hard to win as many Lok Sabha seats as possible to ensure an NDA-led government at the centre. “There is no possibility of my party joining another alliance after the polls,” he stressed.

“I would like to make it clear that reports of my aligning with the Congress are baseless and far from truth,” Nitish Kumar said when asked to respond to claims by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit that the JD-U may align with the Congress after the elections.

With regard to the Left parties, he said that while the JD-U agreed with the Left on various issues, “our party is already in an alliance”.
