Magisterial probe ordered into Faridabad factory fire

By IANS,

Chandigarh: The Haryana government Tuesday ordered a magisterial probe into a devastating fire in the factory of footwear company Lakhani Industries in Faridabad town adjoining Delhi.

Ten workers were burnt alive in the fire May 1.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Ballabgarh) I.P. Bishnoi will conduct investigations into the incident and submit a detailed report, a state government spokesman said here.

The magisterial inquiry will be separate from the investigations being conducted by Faridabad’s deputy labour commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner Brijender Singh said that out of the 609 workers of the factory, 425 reported for work on the day of the incident and 89 left before the fire broke out. He said that if any worker was missing, their families could report to the police.
