New Delhi: The Parliament House Annexe building will have an eco-friendly extension at a cost of Rs.2.62 billion (Rs 262 crore).
Vice Presient Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee laid the foundation stone for the new building Tuesday in the lawns of the Annexe.
“The proposed building will meet the requirement of committee rooms, office rooms of chairmen and other space requirements of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats,” said an official release.
The building, designed by the architectural wing of Central Public Works Department (CPWD), will be built in 36 months from the date of actual start.
“The building will have two blocks – Block ‘A’ – low rise block, ground + two floors (this will have eight committee rooms and seminar hall), and Block �B’ – high rise block, ground + seven floors (office space),” the release said.
“The building will be centrally air-conditioned with eco-friendly – green building features,” it added.
