Sharif urges Pakistan, India to restore trust

By IANS,

Lahore : Pakistan and India should restore trust between them so that peace could be established in the region, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said Tuesday.

The two countries should also focus on improving the economic condition of their peoples, he said while speaking to Indian High Commissioner Sharad Sabharwal, who called on him here, Geo TV reported.

India had suspended the sub-continental composite dialogue process in the wake of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that New Delhi has blamed on elements operating from this country.

Sabharwal and Sharif, who heads Pakistan’s principal opposition party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), also discussed bilateral issues and the regional situation.

The meeting took place at Sharif’s sprawling country villa at Raiwind on Lahore’s outskirts.

Sabharwal recently assumed office as India’s envoy here.
