Mumbai : Indian equities markets closed in the red Wednesday, with a key index ending trade 167 points lower than its previous close.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 12,100.69 points, lost 167.47 points or 1.38 percent from the previous close to end trade at 11,963.61 points.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) lost 0.95 percent to close at 3,627.25 points.
The broader market indices also closed lower, with the BSE midcap index moving down 0.95 percent and the BSE smallcap index shedding 0.15 percent.
