Markets close in red, Sensex down 193 points

Mumbai : Indian markets closed in the red Monday, with a key index shutting shop 193.44 points lower than its last closing figure.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 11,997.37 points, fell 193.44 points or 1.63 percent from the previous close to end trade at 11,682.99 points (provisional).

Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), lost 1.89 percent to close at 3,552.35 points.

Broader market indices also ended in the negative terrain, with the BSE midcap index moving down 1.56 percent, while the BSE smallcap index was down 2.15 percent.
