NDA will form next government: BJP

By IANS,

New Delhi : As the voting for the 543-member parliament concluded Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by it will sweep the elections and form the next government at the centre.

“I’m fully confident that the BJP-led government will be formed at the centre. BJP will emerge as the single largest party and NDA as the largest alliance. We will get new partners (after the polls),” BJP president Rajnath Singh told NDTV.

He said his party was holding discussions with other parties outside the NDA to expand the coalition.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar separately said the Congress was living in its own created fantasy of getting new partners into the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

“(The) Congress was happy Tuesday over Janata Dal-Secular leader H.D. Kumaraswamy’s meeting with Sonia Gandhi. I want to tell them those who are losing are coming to the UPA and those winning are coming to the NDA,” Javdekar said.

“Peoples’ verdict is with the BJP and the NDA. The BJP will come out as the single largest party and the NDA as largest alliance in this elections,” Javdekar said.

He said the Congress-led UPA will lose 50 seats in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
