New Delhi: Two men have been arrested here for abducting and murdering a 17-year-old teenager and demanding a ransom of Rs.5 million from his parents, police said Saturday.
Gaurav, 27, and Mahender Giri, 27, were arrested Friday for the August 2008 abduction and murder of Chirag, the son of a businessman who lives in Tri Nagar in north Delhi.
Police said the accused killed Chirag, a Class 12 student of DAV Public School in Shalimar Bagh area, on the day he was kidnapped.
“They feared that their identity would be disclosed so they murdered the boy on the day of kidnapping. And to mislead the police, they demanded a ransom of Rs.5 million for Chirag’s release,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Alok Kumar.
