New Delhi: An 18-year-old boy from west Delhi who was in love with his 13-year-old neighbour and wanted to marry her hanged himself from a ceiling fan after neighbours caught him closetted with her in his house and threatened to spill the beans, police said Monday.
Deepak was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his Sainik Enclave house in Uttam Nagar area late Sunday.
“The boy’s parents were away in Kurukshetra to visit his younger brother Ravi, who is studying in a boarding school there. His neighbours caught him alongwith the girl in the house,” said a policeman.
“The neighbours reprimanded Deepak and also threatened to tell his parents on their return. In the evening the neighbours discovered his body hanging from the ceiling fan,” the police said.
A suicide note recovered from Deepak’s possession said that he loved the girl and wanted to marry her. Since he had been caught, he could not marry her and was thus committing suicide, he had written, according to the police.
The police said Deepak had dropped out of school after passing Class 10.
