Cancer kills Tripura editor

Agartala : Dhiraj Guha, renowned social activist and editor of a leading Bengali newspaper, died here late Friday, family sources said Saturday.

Guha, 59, was the editor of Dainik Arohan. He was suffering from cancer and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

“Guha had battled cancer for one year. His condition deteriorated during the past few weeks and the end came Friday,” Guha’s younger brother Tarun said.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his cabinet colleagues as well as journalists condoled the death of Guha.

“Tripura has lost a courageous editor, energetic personality and a caring human being,” Sarkar said.

Guha wrote several books and founded many organisations, including a popular old age home here.
