Wali Rahmani condemns ex-minister’s statement on central madrasa board

New Delhi: Maulana Muhammad Wali Rahmani, Sajjada Nasheen, Khanqah Munger, and Director, Rahmani Foundation, has condemned former Union Minister and RJD leader Ali Ashraf Fatmi for his statement that the Centre should not succumb to the pressure by Ulema in regard with the proposed Central Madrasa Board.

“Ali Ashraf Fatmi’s statement that Union Minister should not come under pressure from Ulema who are opposing the proposed board, is very surprising. Does he want that Ulema should not open mouth even on the issue of madrasa education and this issue too be left to teachers of colleges and universities?” Maulana Rahmani asked in a statement.

Maulana Rahmani also questioned Fatmi’s data that there are 14 thousand madrasas in Bihar and 16 thousand in UP adding that former minister’s statement that small madrasas would be linked to the proposed board can’t be given much credence as his statement during the time he was minister that 2400 madrasas have been linked to Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was completely baseless.
Reacting on Fatmi’s claim that Jamia Azhar of Egypt was contacted in regard with the proposed board, Maulana Rahmani said top madrasas in India like Darul Uloom Deoband and Nadwatul Ulema are dead against the board.
