New Delhi: On coming 17th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, social groups working for communal harmony will take out a Sadbhavana Yatra (communal harmony trip) from Ayodhya to Ajmer. The 16th century Babri mosque was demolished on 6th December 1992 in Ayodhya town of Uttar Pradesh by a mob of Hindutva fanatics while the title suit of the mosque was being heard in the court.
Ayodhya Ki Awaz, Asha Parivar and National Alliance of People’s Movement held a meeting today at Saryukunj Durali Kuan in Ayodhya and decided to take out the yatra on 6th December to promote communal harmony. What prompted the social organizations to take out the communal harmony yatra is the planning of the Hindutva organization Vishwa Hindu Parishad to conduct various programs in the same month including Shilapujan program only to vitiate the communal harmony situation in the country.
“The joint meeting of representatives of Ayodhya Ki Awaz, Asha Parivar and National Alliance of People’s Movement was held on 2nd November 2009 at Saryukunj Durali Kuan, Ayodhya. It was proposed during meeting to hold a Yatra from Ayodhya to Ajmer commencing on 6th December 2009,” said Faisal Khan of National Alliance of People’s Movement.
“VHP is planning to conduct programmes in month of December which will continue to Kumbh Mela in Haridwar till next year. VHP proposes to do Shilapujan programme which will spoil the secular environment of nation. Due to this reason we propose to start a Sadbhavana Yatra from Ayodhya which will carry forward and spread the message of Humanity and brotherhood,” Khan said.
These groups conduct various programs on the days of 30th January, 2nd October and 6th December every year.
The 6th December Sadbhavana Yatra will commence from Kabirmath in Ayodhya at 10:00 am and will cover approximately more than 1100 kms to reach Ajmer on 12th December. On its arrival in Ajmer a national meet on communal harmony will be conducted.
During the journey various public meetings will be held and literature will be distributed. The eminent personalities who will inaugurate the yatra include Vaishnav Sant Swami Bhawnath Das, Maulana Badshah Khan of Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind, Faizabad, Father Baptist of Faizabad Church and Buddhist monk Tejankar Deep. The representatives of the organizers who will take part in the yatra include Acharya Jugal Kishore Shashtri, Faisal Khan and Arvind Murti.
