Kochi: A ‘Newspaper Jihad’ should be initiated to counter the fake propaganda (on ‘love jihad’) that the Hindutva forces and certain community leaders are spreading, said Dr MS Jayaprakash, chairman of the Backward Communities Action Committee in a statement issued in Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr Jayaprakash urged the Dalit-minority-backward-Adivasi communities to come forward to boycott the newspapers and other media which destroy the unity and integrity of the nation by spreading the fake propaganda of the Hindutva forces. The investigative agencies of the central and state governments have made it clear that the phenomenon of ‘love jihad’ was a fake creation. The ‘Newspaper Jihad’ is a strong weapon to fight in the language of peace. He urged people to stop the folly of spending money to buy a biting dog.
In another incident, Union Minister for Expatriate Affairs Vayalar Ravi said that the ‘love jihad’ was being made a tool of the Hindutva communal propaganda to destroy the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the Kerala society. This is not a political problem, but rather a shadow war. There is no evidence for the propaganda like girls were being taken to terrorist organisations and all, he said at the Alappuzha Press Club.
Mr Ravi said that such propaganda will only be helpful to create fear and tensions in the society. What is there to exaggerate in this? It is indeed unfortunate to divide the society into two fractions. The communal harmony and love, peculiar for Kerala, should not be lost in this propaganda. Love is a divine feeling of man. We have the history of kings who gave away their power and crown for love. So, he asked, why there was such a hue and cry over marrying for love.
