Chandigarh : Some cheerful news for job seekers – the Haryana government’s Overseas Placement Bureau, set up to facilitate employment abroad, has received inquiries from companies in Canada and the US, an official said here Friday.

“We have received the requirement of 3,190 vacancies in different categories from Canada and 70 vacancies of physiotherapists from the US through our consultants. The selection process of the candidates is in mid-way,” the bureau spokesperson said.

“Vacancies in Canada are projected for the next three years. The recruitment process in Canada was slow due to global recession. But the selection of 16 candidates for Canada is in progress and they are likely to get visa in coming days.”

As per the official records, the bureau had so far placed 82 youths in Middle East countries.

The bureau had also signed a memorandum of understanding with Modi Healthcare, New Delhi, for placing nurses in the US.

“We have set up training centres at Panchkula, Karnal, Rohtak and Faridabad towns. After providing training in IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) to the candidates, the bureau will help them in getting placements in hospitals in the US,” the official said.

“A meeting was also held with the authorities in Denmark regarding recruitment of doctors and healthcare workers,” he said.
