Karachi : Despite the string of terror attacks across Pakistan, a group of business people here have expressed hope about the economic potential of the country.
Participants at the discussions organised by the Swiss Business Council (SBC) discussed ways to turn around the present state of stagnation in the economy, The News reported Sunday.
“Today, Pakistan is passing through very challenging times, economically, politically and security-wise,” SBC President Farhat Ali said. “The resilient business community of Pakistan aims to play a significant role in invoking hope among the people by enhancing Pakistan’s economic growth.”
He said that there were many business opportunities in Pakistan to attract foreign and national investors, especially in the field of agriculture, fisheries, energy, metal and minerals are high.
Diplomats from Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, Turkey, and Malaysia also participated in the discussions.
Swiss Consul-General Martin Bienz said that Pakistan was a fast-growing consumer market which was larger than the populations of several European countries combined.
