Over 98 percent of the paddy procured was purchased by government agencies, five agencies of the Punjab government and the centre’s Food Corp of India (FCI), the officials from the food and supplies department said.
The paddy has been procured at nearly 1,600 procurement centres across the state.
Punjab is targeting over 140 lakh tonnes of paddy procurement this season despite deficient rainfall and near-drought conditions that has affected production.
