Shimla : Keylong in Himachal Pradesh recorded minus 5.4 degrees Celsius Thursday as temperatures plummeted across the state following snow and rain, the meteorological office said here.
“Mercury plunged to season’s lowest in the entire Lahaul and Spiti district this (Thursday) morning. Keylong recorded minus 5.4 degree Celsius,” meteorological office director Manmohan Singh said.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district was the second coldest place in the state with minus 0.9 degrees Celsius followed by Bhuntar (2.6 degrees Celsius), Sundernagar (3.9 degrees), Una (4.7 degrees), Solan (4.8 degrees), Palampur (6.7 degrees), Dharamsala (7.7) and Shimla (8.2).
Singh said even the maximum temperature on an average fell by 8-9 degrees Celsius across the state after moderate to heavy snow in the high hills Nov 9.
The meteorological office said there is a possibility of more snowfall and rain Friday.
