New Delhi: A 27-year-old man has been arrested along with his accomplice for allegedly kidnapping a seven-year-old boy from east Delhi and demanding a ransom of Rs.250,000, police said Monday. The boy has also been rescued unharmed.
Shivpal Yadav and Sushil Yadav, 42, were arrested for abducting the boy from Jhilmil area Nov 15 and holding him captive in Kanpur and Auraiya area of Uttar Pradesh.
The police said the child has been safely released from their hideout in Kanpur.
“After four days of the kidnapping, Shivpal begun calling the child’s father and demanded a ransom of Rs.250,000. They called the father from various mobile phones, raising a strong suspicion that professional kidnappers might be involved,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (east Delhi) Anand Mohan.
“They were arrested after raids at many places. Shivpal said that he was in dire need of money so he decided to kidnap the boy, whom he handed over to his brother-in-law Ravinder in Auraiya,” he added.
They later shifted the boy to Kanpur to evade detection.
