Rasool Pookutty won the Oscar Award for best sound mixing in Danny Boyle’s film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He hails from a small village called Vilakkupaara in Kollam district in southern Kerala. He has been in the field of sound engineering for a long time, but recognition reached him very late. However, he has become very famous after the receipt of the Oscar. Though a Keralite, he has not worked much in Malayalam films. However, he is currently providing sound to ‘Pazhassi Raja’, a big budget film starring Mammootty.
