Bhopal : Six children of a family including two girls – all under 10 years – drowned after falling into a ditch full of water in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district, police said Tuesday.
The incident occurred late Monday in Khandwa district’s Dabia village, 400 km from here, when a forest employee Champalal went on duty leaving his four grandsons and two granddaughters alone at home.
“When he came back, he saw that the children were missing from the nursery where he had left them. Later he saw the bodies of all of them lying in the nearby open ditch full of water. The children might have fallen in it while playing,” the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) B.S. Waskalae told IANS over phone.
The children were identified as Radhika, Sanjana, Vikas, Mehalu, Sumit and Gagan. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
