Ranchi : The outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has called for a two-day shutdown from Oct 12 in Jharkhand and Bihar to protest “moves to suppress our movement”, a release from the organisation said Thursday.
“The centre (central government) is indirectly taking help of the army in its efforts to suppress our movement,” Gopalji, the special area committee of the CPI-Maoists, said in the statement.
The group also said that the government is branding their movement as terrorism.
“We are (being) called the greatest threat to internal security of the country. The Maoist movement is (being) compared with terrorist activities. The centre claims to end Maoist movement in three years. We have decided to observe Oct 7-13 as a protest week against the fascist forces and their repressive measures,” the release said.
