Orissa seeks report from Delhi Police on Kobad Ghandy

By IANS,

Bhubaneswar : Police in Orissa Friday said they had asked their counterparts in Delhi to give them a report on whether arrested Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy had any links with the state.

“We have asked Delhi Police to provide us with details on him (Kobad Ghandy) and if he has any links with Orissa,” state Inspector General of Police (operations) Sanjeev Marik told IANS.

The London-educated Ghandy, 63, is a senior leader of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and has reportedly travelled widely in Maoist influenced states. He was arrested in New Delhi Sep 21 and is currently in judicial custody.

“If we find any specific inputs we will investigate and may seek permission to interrogate him if required,” Marik said.
