New Delhi: The Delhi government has finalised three government hospitals for providing medical facilities to athletes, team officials and others during the Commonwealth Games next year, state Health Minister Kiran Walia said.
Walia met a delegation of Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and told the members about the medical facilities to be provided during 2010 Commonwealth Games.
“Three designated hospitals for definite medical care to athletes, team officials and technical delegates have been identified in the capital. They are G.B. Pant, Ram Manohar Lohia and Jai Prakash Narain Apex Trauma Centre in AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences),” Walia said.
These hospitals will have a secure ward, emergency area, ICU beds and 30 beds for athletes. Medical centres at stadiums and training venues will be set up. The government would also set up first aid posts for spectators and officials at various places.
“Officers, doctors, para-medical staff have been trained for extending best medical services to the delegates. Hospitals have also been asked to up-grade their standards. Arrangement for safety, security, isolation and privacy protocol have been ensured,” Walia added.
Walia said that emergency facilities in case of any disaster or mass casualty incident have also been ensured.
“The health minister apprised the medical advisor to Commonwealth Games, Dr Jagadisan, and his colleague Dr Manmohan about the preparedness of the Delhi government to meet the requirements of games participants,” said an official statement here.
“Jagadisan expressed his satisfaction and congratulated Walia for the medical arrangements for the Games by the Delhi government,” it added.
