Jammu: Security forces Friday evening achieved a major success when they shot dead two dreaded terrorists in a gun battle in Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir.
On specific information about movement of a group of terrorists at Neel Zaradi area of Banihal, troops of 12 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a joint search operation in the area and cordoned it.
The militants were asked to surrender, instead they opened fire, leading to a gun battle that lasted for three hours.
In the gun fight, two terrorists were killed.
One of them has been identified as Zubair Qasim. The other militant is yet to be identified.
One AK 47 and a pistol have been recovered so far from the encounter site.
The killing of the terrorists is a great success to the security forces, as it will give a severe blow to the outfit in the area, a top police official said.
