According to officials of Gayatri Construction, an infrastructure firm he was working with for last 10 years, Rao was abducted by five armed men at Boipur in Kokhrajhar district.

“We worried over his safety. We appeal to the state and central governments to rescue him,” said Rajeshwari, Rao’s wife.

She along with their two children, aged 14 and 16 years, held ‘puja’ (prayer) in a local temple in Gannavaram for his safe return.

The family members said Rao had last visited them in the first week of September and was in regular touch with them over phone.
