Gaza : The Israeli authorities allowed here on Monday the entry of two water desalination plants to Gaza after a ban that lasted for years.
The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility CMWU said in a statement that Israel allowed entrance of two water desalination plants to serve the residents of Gaza.
Since the start of Israeli blockade on Gaza in the summer of 2007, Israel refused to supply the strip with water desalination plants and the region suffers due to the high salt content and impurities in its water resources.
The Palestinian Authority accuses Israel of theft of the water of Gaza, and also says Israel is setting barriers on ground along the borders with Gaza Strip to prevent ground water accumulating after rainfall from reaching the strip.
