Pakistan calls for more cooperation with Japan on higher learning institutions

Tokyo : Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati has emphasized the need for more cooperation between the universities and research and development organizations of Pakistan and Japan.

He expressed these views during his visits and meetings with various higher education learning institutions in Japan, a diplomatic source informed APP on Monday.

The Minister urged for cooperation between the two countries through students exchange programmes, scholarships and assistance in research and development activities, Minister Economic at Pakistan Embassy Iftikhar Babar told APP Monday.

Swati is visiting Japan along with Rector COMSATS Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi.

He called on the President of Japan Science and Technology Agency, Koichi Kitazawa, besides visiting highly reputed Tokyo Institute of Technology University and met with its President, Kenichi Iga. He had a round of its various departments.

Swati attended three conferences on Science and Technology, sponsored by STS Forum of Japan in KYOTO.

At these forums, Swati met and exchanged views on cooperation with several important scientists drawn from a large number of foreign countries.

In Tokyo Swati had detailed meeting with the Vice-President of JICA Mr. Arai Izumi.
